1. Ethan Boyd, OL

The first Michigan State player to enter the portal on Tuesday was offensive lineman Ethan Boyd. Boyd has spent a considerable amount of time in East Lansing, but has never broken through in a meaningful way. He did make three starts at right tackle last season, but he never felt like someone that Michigan State was going to rely on to be the anchor of the offensive line.

While losing anyone at offensive line is never a good thing, this loss really doesn't hurt the Spartans that much. Boyd entered the portal after this season only to withdraw his name and remain at Michigan State. So it appears he may have already had one foot out the door.

He also was not very active this spring and did not participate in the Spring Showcase either. So even though losing a more veteran piece on the offensive line like Boyd isn't a good thing, this first portal entrant for Michigan State wasn't one that made me panic.
