Michigan State football is just two days removed from their Spring Showcase, and the good news on the recruiting trail continues to roll in. The best news since Saturday was transfer EDGE Anthony Jones who committed to MSU Sunday night.

But Michigan State just got more good news as a recruit they currently lead for has put the Spartans in his top four.

Di’Mari Malone is a three-star linebacker from Macomb, Mich. According to 247Sports, he is the No. 9 player from the state of Michigan and the No. 62 linebacker in the country.

Malone would be a nice pickup for the Spartans as he has great speed for the position and is able to drop back in pass coverage as well. He also has a knack for making the big plays as this past season he recorded three interceptions, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. I don’t know about you, but I want as many players on Michigan State’s defense as possible who can force that many turnovers.

Recruiting competition

Also included in Malone’s top four is Illinois, Minnesota, and Pittsburgh, along with the Spartans as well. However, there are a lot of good signs that point towards Michigan State being the team to beat.

First is the fact that MSU is the only team that currently has an official visit scheduled with Malone. He was originally supposed to officially visit Illinois this weekend, but that has been canceled and a different date hasn’t been set yet. The Spartans also have all four crystal ball predictions in their favor as well, with three being from Michigan State insiders and one from a national level recruiting insider.

No commitment date has been set for Malone yet, but all of these signs point towards good news for MSU in the future. Malone’s official visit begins June 7, so that weekend could be a potential commitment date for him. But regardless, Jonathan Smith has done an excellent job in Malone’s recruitment and it would be shocking if he doesn’t become a Spartan.
