If you have been following Michigan State football recruiting closely this week, you know that a surprise defensive back visitor came to East Lansing this week and then shortly after received multiple crystal balls on 247Sports to commit to Michigan State.

That defensive back was Kobee Minor from Indiana, who is the top remaining defensive back in the transfer portal. Minor surprised all of Spartan nation when he announced his visit on Tuesday which also took place the following day. Then the very next day, all of the recruiting experts came out and said it was just a matter of time until he officially committed to Michigan State.

However, on Friday, Minor himself announced that his recruitment is once again 100 percent open.

I initially hoped that Michigan State was still in the running for Minor, but Spartan Tailgate confirmed that the Spartans are now completely out of the picture for him.

While it is extremely unfortunate for this to have happened with such a talented player, there is no reason to panic. According to 247Sports' Corey Robinson, Minor is having "admissions/credits challenges" that are preventing him from getting into Michigan State.

So while this isn't the news we wanted to see, at least it has nothing to do with actual recruiting between Minor, Jonathan Smith, and his staff.

On the bright side, Michigan State's secondary is in a great spot and adding tons of talent to the group that needed it most. On Friday, the Spartans received commitments from two defensive backs in the transfer portal in UCF safety Nikai Martinez and LSU cornerback Jeremiah Hughes.

So even though this isn't the greatest news, it isn't the worst news either. The secondary appears to be becoming a strong point for Michigan State, and I firmly believe that is the case with or without Minor.
