1. Turnovers (of course)

I mean, is this really a surprise? Every season, this team struggles with turnovers. This team lives and dies by turnovers. This season is no different.

The Spartans are ranked 309th in the country in turnovers. There are 358 teams in D1 basketball. That’s really bad.

Turning the ball over 15 times a game is the biggest reason this team hasn’t blown out its opponents. Granted, the team has won while doing this, but it won’t work come conference tournament play. Minnesota is a solid team, but they couldn’t take advantage of MSU’s mistakes. The teams the Spartans will play by January will be a lot more polished and will be jumping all over these opportunities.

Generally, Tom Izzo makes his team improve throughout the season and turnovers are something this team needs to get some sort of control of if they want to take that next step.
