Michigan State basketball has gotten off to an impressive 8-2 start. They have done many things well, but what are some things they can improve on?

With no specific player leading the charge this season, much of the media and many fans disregarded Michigan State basketball as possible contenders to make a run in March this season. However, Sparty has hit the ground running.

After Wednesday night’s 75-67 win against conference foe Minnesota, the Spartans start conference play 1-0 and look much better than people would have expected. From a simple eye test, it’s easy to see that the strength of this team is its defense.

One thing that seemed guaranteed in life, was that the Spartans were going to start sloppy and eventually get things together by tournament time. For years that has been the constant of Michigan State basketball.

While it’s not perfect, this is about as well-rounded of a team we have had in a couple of years.

Now that we have briefly gone over the good, it’s time to dive into how this team can further improve and become a real threat in the Big Ten.
