This one might be a little more wishful thinking than anything else, but Dillon Tatum was thought to be a Michigan lock just a few weeks ago and the fact that he hasn’t decided and wore some Michigan State gloves at a recent 7-on-7 event is a good sign the Spartans are still in it.

Tatum might be leaning toward Michigan because his high school coach was just hired to the staff this offseason and that is enough comfortability for any young recruit to want.

But Mel Tucker has done a great job here of selling Michigan State.

The four-star West Bloomfield, Mich., recruit is listed as an athlete and he was once thought to be a top running back target in the 2022 class but it’s looking more likely that he’ll be playing defensive back at the next level. That’s where Michigan wants him and Michigan State may be pushing for the same although he’s talented enough to play both ways.

A decision seems to be close here and the teams to beat are Michigan and Michigan State. Tatum is ranked the No. 258 recruit in the class, 15th-best athlete, and Michigan’s No. 5 prospect.
