Michigan State Football: Could Alabama LB transfer Ale Kaho be an option?
Mel Tucker and Michigan State football have been active in the transfer portal this offseason and Alabama linebacker Ale Kaho could be an option.
If there’s one thing Mel Tucker has been adamant about this offseason, it’s that he is not done dipping into the transfer portal.
So far, the head coach has added a handful of prospects via the portal, led by Harold Joiner, Kenneth Walker, Anthony Russo, Drew Jordan, Chester Kimbrough, Jarrett Horst and Kendall Brooks. He admitted after National Signing Day that he’s not even close to being done and that’s exactly what Michigan State fans want to hear.
Well, a gift may have just fallen into Tucker’s lap on Friday afternoon when Alabama linebacker Ale Kaho entered the transfer portal.
Corey Robinson, one of the Michigan State recruiting experts from 247Sports, tweeted that it would make sense for the Spartans to check in on the former five-star.
Robinson is well-connected, so if he believes this makes sense for the staff, it’s likely being talked about behind closed doors. And it makes sense for both sides because Michigan State is in desperate need for linebacker depth and Kaho probably wants to go somewhere he can contribute right away.
Kaho is a talented linebacker who was recruited by all the major programs out of high school before choosing Alabama. The Reno, Nev., native held over a dozen offers and was ranked the No. 21 prospect in the 2018 class as well as the No. 1 inside linebacker by 247Sports. He could come in and immediately fill in for a massive loss like Antjuan Simmons.
Don’t be surprised if you see Tucker making a strong push for Kaho in the coming weeks.
