Kenneth Walker III picked Michigan State football on Wednesday afternoon, adding impressive depth to the already-impressive running back room.

Mel Tucker wasn’t lying when he said he would be hitting the transfer portal hard this offseason. He admitted that there would likely be a lot of attrition and plenty of addition via transfers and so far, that’s held true.

Michigan State has seen over a dozen players enter the transfer portal while adding guys like Anthony Russo, Jarrett Horst, Drew Jordan and Harold Joiner.

On Wednesday, seemingly lost in the mess surrounding the US Capitol, Michigan State landed another big name in the form of Wake Forest running back Kenneth Walker III.

Walker III announced the decision on Twitter and it was met with glowing optimism.

This is a huge addition to the running back room which added Joiner, a former four-star blue-chipper, earlier this offseason and already has Elijah Collins, Jordon Simmons and Connor Heyward. They do add Davion Primm in the 2021 class and this seems like perfect insurance after losing Audric Estime to Notre Dame.

Elite film watcher Wil Hunter of Locked on Spartans broke down the tape on Walker III on Twitter following the commitment and he said there’s plenty of reason for excitement.

First, there’s his burst and acceleration.

And then there’s his strength.

And SpartanMag‘s Justin Thind chimed in with some praise for Walker III after breaking down his film.

Walker III is going to be a nice addition to the room with an electrifying runner like Joiner and a young gun like Simmons, especially if the Spartans can hold on to Collins and develop him.

Michigan State just needs the offensive line to develop and open those holes next season in order to take advantage of this wealth of talent in the backfield. Chris Kapilovic, do your magic.
