Michigan State football has been very active in the transfer portal, landing Duke defensive end transfer Drew Jordan on Thursday.

Mel Tucker wasn’t kidding when he said he and his staff were going to hit the transfer portal hard this offseason and he’s made three splashes already with Anthony Russo, Harold Joiner and Jarrett Horst.

On Thursday, he added a fourth big name.

Duke defensive end and former top-200 recruit Drew Jordan had an announcement on Thursday night and chose the Spartans.

Jordan was ranked the No. 173 prospect in the 2017 recruiting class and held nearly two dozen offers from Suwanee, Ga., according to 247Sports. He was also listed as the 13th-best weak-side defensive end in the class and if you look at him, he’s a physical specimen on the defensive line at 6-foot-2 and 270 pounds — he’ll be one of the shorter incoming Spartans.

The grad transfer had an impressive career with Duke after committing to the Blue Devils over offers from the likes of Arkansas, Iowa State, Mississippi State, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ole Miss and Pitt. Michigan State also offered him during the recruiting process as he was in contact with Ron Burton. It’ll be nice for him to have a familiar face still on staff.

As a freshman, Jordan had an instant impact with 16 total tackles and three sacks. He improved as a sophomore with 33 total tackles, four tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks and then took a step back as a junior before posting 33 tackles and 3.5 sacks as a senior again.

Give it up to Tucker, the coach can hit the portal with the best of ’em.
