3. Spartans win Freshmen of the Week honors twice

Malik Hall has already been named a freshman of the week in the Big Ten this season and that’s a huge honor for a kid coming off the bench in one of the biggest games of the season at Seton Hall, but it’s just the top of the iceberg.

Michigan State will have two Big Ten freshmen of the week in the month of December as both Rocket Watts and Hall accomplish that feat.

Watts has had an up-and-down season but anyone who has watched him play realizes that he has an incredibly bright future in East Lansing. The speed of the game doesn’t seem to be affecting him, but he just can’t make shots consistently. He’ll get hot in the month of December on his way to a Big Ten Freshman of the Week award as he scores 15 points in consecutive games.

Hall will also win the award again, getting hot off the bench to bring the Spartans some much-needed scoring. His second freshman of the week honor will be a momentum builder as he becomes a first or second option off the bench for Michigan State.
