Michigan State Football: Spartans made 4-star LB Reggie Hughes’ top 5
Michigan State football recently made the cut for four-star 2018 linebacker Reggie Hughes from California.
Finishing the 2018 class with four solid linebackers is on the list of things to do for Mark Dantonio and Michigan State. Right now, the Spartans have two linebackers committed, but Reggie Hughes, a four-star from Calabasas, Calif., could be the next option.

The four-star from the West Coast recently named his top five schools, and Michigan State made the cut.
Over the weekend, Hughes released his list of top five schools, and the Spartans are the only program not from the Pac-12. Interestingly enough, Michigan State is also the team with the most recent success on the list. Others to make the cut were UCLA, Washington State, Arizona State and Oregon State.
Although he’s a composite three-star on 247Sports, Hughes has been listed as high as a four-star by Scout. He’s one of the top linebacker talents on Michigan State’s 2018 board and he might be higher on the Spartans’ board than Kenny Bastida — the latter recently named the Spartans in his top two.
Moreover, Hughes is planning a visit to East Lansing in July, which could be a game-changer in his recruitment.
Hughes stands 6-foot-2 and weighs in at about 210 pounds. He’s nearly the ideal size for a Big Ten linebacker, if he adds about 20-25 pounds, and he’s quick from sideline-to-sideline and aggressive at the point of attack.
