Michigan State recruiting has made the final two of three-star linebacker Kenny Bastida from Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

A classic Mark Dantonio vs. Pat Narduzzi battle is a-brewing. Michigan State and Pittsburgh both made the final cut for three-star 2018 linebacker Kenny Bastida from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on Sunday night.

The talented linebacker from Florida trimmed his list to just two schools and it’s fitting that it’d be both Michigan State and Pitt. Narduzzi and Dantonio have the same type of defensive mindset although neither has had an elite defense in a couple of years.

Bastida stands 6-foot-1 and 220 pounds which is a typical Michigan State linebacker’s build. His film shows his strong nose for the ball movement from sideline to sideline isn’t exactly elite, in terms of speed, but he is aggressive enough to make plays

The three-star linebacker is strong at the point of attack, but he’s not the flashy type of player who just wants to make a big hit without wrapping up. Bastida is a sound tackler and that is refreshing to hear since Michigan State has had a problem with that over the past couple of seasons.

While Michigan State and Pitt are his final two teams, he has been offered by the likes of LSU, N.C. State, North Carolina, Penn State, Wisconsin and UCF.

Bastida is listed as the No. 499 recruit in the 2018 class as well as the 34th-best outside linebacker, according to the 247Sports composite.
