It’s hard to believe that there’s one player in the 2017 class who might be an even bigger priority than four-star cornerback Ambry Thomas from Detroit King. Thomas, however, might be a much more attainable prospect than the No. 1 guy on this list as he’s been high on the Spartans for a while now.

Having Donnie Corley, Tyriq Thompson and Kyonta Stallworth, all from King, on the Spartans’ current roster has to help, but another top school of his, Michigan, has former defensive backfield mate Lavert Hill.

It all depends on where he feels comfortable, but that seems to be Michigan State since he speaks very highly of Mark Dantonio and the program every time he’s asked. Every interview about Michigan State is a positive one for Thomas and Corley could be the biggest selling point.

Thomas could join Corley as a starter in the secondary for Michigan State a couple years down the line as Coach D has already claimed Donnie is going to play both sides of the ball eventually. That idea has to be attractive for the junior cornerback.

Ranked No. 113 overall and as the eighth-best cornerback in the class as well as second-best Michigan prospect, Thomas is highly-coveted by schools all over the country. However, his top four seem to be Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State and Pitt.

Imagine a class with Thomas and Riep joining the future defensive backfield of Corley, Josh Butler, Khari Willis, Austin Andrews, Demetric Vance, Kenney Lyke and Tyson Smith. Scary.
