Tom Izzo and Michigan State basketball are gaining momentum on the recruiting trail this week, landing four-star power forward Julius Avent on Wednesday afternoon.

Now, the Hall of Fame head coach will be hosting five-star center Ethan Taylor and four-star forward Jalyn Collingwood this weekend for the Izzone Campout and Midnight Madness. Carlos Medlock Jr., too, will reportedly be back in town to help the recruiting efforts.

There are probably 2-3 spots left in the class if Izzo opts to fill it out with entirely 2026 class recruits, but he may opt to reserve a spot or two for the transfer portal.

Still, there are some priority targets left on the board, and these are the three guys who I think should top the list after Julius Avent has committed, in order.

1. Jasiah Jervis, 4-star SG (No. 35 nationally, No. 2 SG)

Every Spartan who follows recruiting wants this dude in the green and white. He’s one of the most talented guards in the class, and there’s a reason he’s shot up the rankings over the past couple of months. He’s that good.

Jervis is ranked the No. 35 prospect in the country and he’s the second-best shooting guard, and it looks like Michigan State is right up there with NC State as the favorites.

Izzo has spent a lot of time with him lately, so I like Michigan State’s chances.

2. Ethan Taylor, 5-star C (No. 24 nationally, No. 2 C)

Some might put Ethan Taylor at the top of their wish lists for the Spartans’ 2026 class, and I get it. The five-star big man is a 7-footer which is almost a necessity in today’s Big Ten. He’s also a skilled center which the Spartans haven’t had consistently over the years. Currently, Jaxon Kohler can be considered just that, but it took him a few years to really contribute at a high level.

Taylor is high school teammates with current point guard commit Carlos Medlock Jr. and he’ll be on campus this weekend with the Spartan pledge.

Indiana and Kansas are also high on his list.

3. Maximo Adams, 5-star SF (No. 23 nationally, No. 10 SF)

A name that seems to be forgotten in the Spartans’ 2026 class efforts, Maximo Adams was recently on campus for his official, and he would be a huge addition for Michigan State on the wing.

Adams has a college-ready frame at 6-foot-7 and 205 pounds, and he’s one of the more skilled small forwards in the class. He would pair nicely with the current class of commits, but I’d love to see a future lineup with him and Jervis on the wings, Medlock running point, and Taylor in the post.

All the blue bloods want Adams, but he’s high on Duke, North Carolina, Texas, Kansas, and Michigan State. He still has trips to Duke and North Carolina planned in October and November.

If all goes as planned, Michigan State could have the No. 7 point guard, the No. 2 shooting guard, the No. 2 center, the No. 10 small forward, and the No. 13 power forward in the same class.
