Malik Hall has been out of college for two years now, and the former Michigan State star is definitely missed by Spartan fans. He was one of the most improved players that came through the program in years, and he followed the Joey Hauser route of having his best season as a senior.
Like Hauser, Hall was often criticized for being inconsistent, but that all changed during the 2023-24 season when he was a senior and Michigan State was looking to make a run.
Months earlier, Michigan State was a preseason top-five team before losing at home to James Madison and never really living up to the hype. Hall was the leader of the team along with Tyson Walker, and the two tried to put forth a late run in the NCAA Tournament, a a double-digit lead against North Carolina in round two didn’t last.
The Spartans coughed up a big early lead and were sent home packing by the Tar Heels, ending Hall’s Michigan State career.
Now, he’s playing professional basketball.
Where is Malik Hall today?
After going undrafted, Malik Hall signed with the Greensboro Swarm of the G-League before joining the Motor City Cruise midway through the season. He played just two games with the Swarm in 2024-25, averaging just 6.5 minutes, and then he joined the Pistons’ G-League affiliate for 20 games.
With the Cruise, he averaged a solid 9.7 points and 4.5 rebounds. He shot about 64 percent from the field but basically ditched his 3-point shot. He started 10 games.
Unfortunately, his time in the G-League essentially ended there as he joined Ironi Kiryat Ata B.C., a team in Israel’s top division this past summer, and that’s where he’s been playing during the 2025-26 season. He had a short stint in the NBA Summer League in 2024 and then subsequently the G-League, but he found his best opportunity to make money playing basketball overseas.
Hall is reportedly second on the team in scoring through 10 games this season, averaging 16.6 points per game through Dec. 29. He has become just the latest Spartan to find professional basketball success overseas.
I’m hoping he gets another shot at the NBA’s G-League next year.
