The 2026 Michigan State basketball recruiting class is officially complete.
Five-star center Ethan Taylor committed to Tom Izzo and the Spartans on Friday evening, becoming the fourth pledge for Michigan State — the other three have already signed.
Taylor, a five-star from Link Academy in Missouri, chose Michigan State over Indiana, Kansas, Oregon, and Oklahoma. He is the Spartans’ first five-star commit since Xavier Booker in the 2023 class, but fans are hoping that he has better fortune in East Lansing than the current UCLA big man.
Fans have to be thrilled about the news because with football being so depressing to follow, basketball and Izzo’s recruiting have worked wonders on the fanbase’s happiness.
To make fans even happier, Taylor gave a heck of a quote about why he committed to MSU.
"I think it was a pretty easy choice. Coach Izzo was very, very hard on me for the recruiting process. He recruited me very hard. I think I heard the most from him of any head coach. The fanbase is just insane. On my visit, I was hearing chants and (seeing) all this crowd surfing. It was crazy. The players too. The players really helped me make an easier decision just with how they welcomed me and how nice they were to me on my visit."Ethan Taylor on his MSU commitment
Hearing how much he loves the fanbase is always going to win people over. Including the fanbase as part of the reason he committed is rare, but it shows that he cares about not only Izzo and the program, but the fans who make it so special and feel like a family.
Taylor also liked the way Izzo recruited him and being receptive to tough coaching is only going to make him more successful in East Lansing.
Spartan fans, the 2026 class is going to be special.
