Malik Hall Back in Michigan with Motor City Cruise

I'm sure Malik Hall thought his days playing in the state of Michigan were over after he graduated from Michigan State. The former Spartan basketball player wanted to make a name in the pros.

In fact, Hall ended up within the Hornets' organization, much like fellow Spartan Miles Bridges. After not making the Hornets' roster right away at the start of the NBA season, Hall was among the draft class for the NBA G-League.

That ended up being a great opportunity as the Hornets' G-League affiliate the Greensboro Swarm selected him. In fact, he was the team's first round selection in that draft.

Despite the high pick, Hall only saw action in a couple games.

Now, he will get a chance to come back to the state of Michigan where he thrived at MSU. His versatility was a huge part for Tom Izzo from 2019-2024. The Detroit Pistons' G-league affiliate made the news official that they had acquired Hall's rights via a trade with Greensboro.

The Cruise made the move official today, according to Brandon Champion from MLive.

Hopefully, Malik will be able to find some more playing time with Motor City. One thing is for sure, it's great to see him back in the state. He was a privilege to watch over the years, and has the skills to make an impact for the Cruise.

Hall will be wearing No. 33 for the team. He will also get to be teammates with plenty of other former Big Ten players, as the Cruise also feature the likes of Penn State's Lamar Stevens, and Rutgers' Ron Harper Jr.

It isn't the first time the Pistons' G-League affiliate has had a former Spartan on the team as Kalin Lucas spent time with the Grand Rapids Gold when they were still affiliated with Detroit as the Drive.

Whatever happens for Hall, I certainly hope this gives him the opportunity to at some point get a shot in the NBA. Welcome home, Malik.
