Tom Izzo has been cooking on the recruiting trail, and it looks like he may have found another gem to join his 2026 Michigan State basketball recruiting class.

Two top targets will be announcing their decisions on Friday afternoon, and Michigan State looks like a key player in both recruitments, but likely only one looks promising.

Maximo Adams announced earlier this week that he would be committing on Friday, and he’s choosing between four programs, and Michigan State is included. Unfortunately, North Carolina is the favorite, and all signs are pointing to Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels winning out for the five-star small forward.

However, Michigan State looks like the favorite to land five-star center Ethan Taylor, and popular recruiting insider Trilly Donovan (his name on X) hinted that the Spartans should feel good about Friday’s announcement.

How do we know this is about Taylor and not Adams? Because Trilly also posted a GIF of Hubert Davis to indicate that Adams is likely headed to UNC on Friday. He only does this when he’s confident of a commitment, and it now feels official — it sounds ridiculous, but Trilly’s track record is impeccable.

The Spartans just signed Julius Avent, Jasiah Jervis, and Taylor’s Link Academy teammate Carlos Medlock Jr. on Thursday, and it looks like he’s going to be joining one of the nation’s top classes.

Taylor is ranked the No. 23 overall recruit and he’s the second-best center in the 2026 class, according to the composite. He will be announcing his decision on Friday at around 4 p.m. ET.
