Where does Michigan State basketball go after Jalen Haralson miss?
Tom Izzo and Michigan State basketball were hoping for some good news on Wednesday evening, but unfortunately Micah Shrewsberry and Notre Dame landed Jalen Haralson over the Spartans and Indiana Hoosiers.
Michigan State was optimistic after a "Grind Week" official visit from Haralson, but he ultimately went the route of a rebuilding program like Notre Dame where he could become an instant star.
Would Michigan State have been a better fit? Potentially, but you can't fault a kid for going where he feels is best for him.
But now that he's off the board and Michigan State's 2025 recruiting class still sits at zero commits, where should Izzo and the Spartans go? Is there reason to panic for not having a single commit in September with less than six months until signing day? I'd say no, especially when you consider how many big names Michigan State is in on.
Where Izzo and the Spartans should turn first, in my opinion, is five-star small forward Dwayne Aristode. He's probably the top target on the board right now and he would more than make up for missing on Haralson. Aristode is the No. 19 overall recruit and No. 4 small forward in the class out of New Hampshire, per 247Sports. He just listed Michigan State in his top five.
Darius Adams is another name to watch. The five-star shooting guard just listed a top three of Michigan State, Tennessee, and UConn. I'm not optimistic here, but still a good sign.
After focusing on these three guys, I think Izzo should probably turn his attention to guys like Niko Bundalo, Jordan Scott, Davion Hannah, and Cam Ward. Heck, maybe see if Jerry Easter is still a possibility.
There are plenty of options and routes to take after the Haralson commitment.
