The highly anticipated College Football 25 video game is finally here. The early release of the game was on Monday afternoon, and as you would imagine the game is quickly taking over social media.

Specifically amongst Michigan State football fans, it appears they all are playing with the Spartans as they pass the time by for the regular season to begin this fall.

Throughout the summer, EA Sports has released a lot of information about Michigan State in the game including some player rankings and the overall team rankings. However, now that the game is officially out we can learn everything there is to know about Michigan State in the game.

Here are some of those things we learned about Michigan State and their inclusion in the game, thanks to our friends on social media.

Official team rating

EA Sports released what Michigan State’s team rating could be the last few weeks, but it was always a work in progress and not 100 percent official. Now with the game being released, we now know MSU’s team rating.

Michigan State comes in as an 80 and is unfortunately one of the worst rated Power Four teams in the country. I figured Michigan State would be towards the bottom, but this feels a little low to me.

Thankfully EA Sports will do midseason updates, so if MSU plays well they will move up in the ratings.

Michigan State opt outs

In order to be included in the game, each player had to officially opt in with EA Sports. If they did not opt in, they wouldn’t be included. And unfortunately for Michigan State fans, it looks like some Spartans chose to opt out.

The most notable opt out for Michigan State is linebacker Cal Haladay. Also choosing to opt out is transfer running back Kay’Ron Lynch-Adams, receiver Jaron Glover, lineman Brandon Baldwin, and offensive tackle Rustin Young are a few of the opt outs that stand out.

It’s unclear why they chose to opt out, but it is unfortunate to not have every Spartan represented.

Helmet variations

The last thing we found out on Monday were all the helmet combinations available. Michigan State has eight options to choose from including the script state, gruff Sparty and MAC logos.

As time goes on we’ll definitely learn more, but so far this looks like one of the best games ever made.
