After many, many long awaited years, the new EA Sports College Football 25 video game is almost here. That means it’s almost time to take control of the reigns in East Lansing and start the next college football dynasty online with Michigan State football.

As the release of the game drew closer, EA Sports has slowly been releasing some information about the game. This included potential overall rankings for Michigan State on offense and defense as well as a sneak peak at what Aidan Chiles ranking could be.

But now we finally get to see some official rankings of some Michigan State players as the top 13 ranked MSU players have been released.

Sitting atop the Michigan State football rankings are two former Oregon State Beavers who followed Jonathan Smith to Michigan State this offseason.

This shockingly does not include Chiles, but rather his center Tanner Miller and tight end Jack Velling. Both Miller and Velling are veteran guys who undoubtedly will be starters this fall, and Velling even led all FBS tight ends last season in touchdown receptions.

EA Sports also released the top 100 overall players with the final players coming on that list possessing a 90 rating. No Spartans made the cut, but Miller and Velling coming in at 87 shows they were both very close to cracking the top 100 players overall.

Aidan Chiles College Football 25 ranking

Quarterback Aidan Chiles comes in with the eighth-best rating on the team with an 81.

This is an extremely solid rating for Chiles considering he’s never been a starter in college yet. This also gives him room to play his way to a better ranking, assuming EA Sports releases midseason player updates.

Michigan State’s secondary surprisingly dominates this list

Maybe the most shocking thing from this list is that the Michigan State secondary is well represented. This unit has by far been the worst on the team for the past three years, but maybe this data is telling us that they’re starting to improve.

Safeties Dillon Tatum and Malik Spencer lead the way at an 82 and 81, respectively. Then we have corners Ed Woods and Angelo Grose both at 80.

At the end of the day, this is just a video game, so we can’t put much value into these ratings at all, but maybe this is a sign that this unit is improving.

Michigan State football special teams player receive a lot of love

Lastly, both Michigan State’s punter and kicker made the top 13 on the team. Whether that’s a good or bad thing I’m not sure, but elite special teams players are underrated nowadays, so I think this is cool to see.

Punter Ryan Eckley is an 82 while kicker Jonathan Kim is an 81. I honestly think both could have been higher, but maybe it’s a good thing that the punter and kicker aren’t the top two spots for Michigan State.
