Jeremy Fears Jr. (and all of Spartan nation for that matter) have been on quite the rollercoaster ride since he suffered a leg injury from a gunshot last December. At first we didn't know if he'd be able to walk again, but then that quickly transitioned to wondering if he'd be 100 percent by the start of the 2024 season as his health was quickly improving.

However, his progress was questioned once again as Fears initially was the one scholarship player on Michigan State to not make a team in the annual summer Moneyball.

Many, including myself, were wondering if this meant his recovery still had a long ways to go, but that question has been answered as Fears played in day two of Moneyball on Thursday night.

According to Nathaniel Bott with the Lansing State Journal, Fears is suiting up in place of Jaden Akins who did not particpate in Moneyball on Thursday.

This is massive news for Fears and his health because it shows that he is close to 100 percent healthy like we all originally thought he was. Fears likely is being held out of being a full time participant in Moneyball just as a precaution, but seeing that he is able to take Akins place and play in a full contact scrimmage is massive.

Here are a few highlights from Fears’ night at Moneyball, courtesy of Ian Kress with WLNS.

As you can see from the brief highlights, Fears looks completely comfortable on the court. His explosiveness, quick feet and speed is still there, which honestly is a miracle after everything he went through.

Moneyball unfortunately isn’t that competitive in regards to playing defense and players caring all that much about winning, so it’s hard to draw any conclusions from player’s stats. But the only thing that matters with Fears is seeing him on the court once again and watching him move so flawlessly.

Fears might officially be back, and I for one can’t wait for the season to start now.
