Top 2025 Michigan State football target announces commitment date
Jonathan Smith and Michigan State football are done with official visits for the summer, but that doesn't mean the head coach is done recruiting.
The 2025 class is up to 14 commitments as of June 30 and there's a chance that number could grow soon and Smith would probably like to have most of his class wrapped up by the time the 2024 season rolls around. And guess what? That's in exactly two months from now.
With the season approaching, Smith is focusing on some of his top remaining targets and one of them just announced that he'll be making his decision here in the next couple of weeks.
In fact, three-star athlete Bryson Williams announced a commitment date of July 11.
Williams is yet another target from Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary's and the Spartans already have three-star linebacker Charles White and three-star tight end Jayden Savoury committed in the 2025 class from that in-state program. It would make sense that Williams might want to join his teammates in East Lansing next year, but he has 22 other offers to choose from.
Michigan State feels like a favorite here for Williams, but you can't overlook Pitt, Kansas, or Harvard where he took all of his official visits. His last trip was to East Lansing on June 21 which might help.
Clearly he's a smart kid if he's getting offers from Harvard, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Princeton, and Yale. That's the type of kid you want because not only can he play at a high level, but he's not going to have problems with grades.
Williams is the No. 930 overall prospect in the class and the 72nd-best athlete, according to the composite.
