Michigan State football's June official visit season may be over, but there is still a lot of excitement yet to come in the recruiting world this offseason. The next big event for MSU is Spartan Dawg Con, an annual recruiting event every summer that targets upcoming high school senior and junior recruits.

The Spartans just found out who the first confirmed visitor to this event will be, and he shared an interesting comment about Jonathan Smith and the culture he is building in East Lansing.

Jake Janda is an elite tight end recruit in the 2026 class. According to 247Sports, he is a three-star recruit and the No. 23 tight end in the country as well as the No. 9 player from the state of Michigan.

Janda may already have a crystal ball prediction in favor of Michigan, but he is still the first recruit to commit to coming to Spartan Dawg Con later this summer.

When speaking with Kenny Jordan of On3 after this announcement, Janda shared "I feel like it's (Michigan State) less Hollywood now and more football centered... It's not about me, it's about we."

This quote clearly shows the drastic shift in culture that Smith and his staff have already built in East Lansing. The previous staff cared more about the photoshoots and creating an internet persona that never really stuck with Michigan State's fanbase. That however has changed quick, and recruits across the country are already noticing.

Michigan State had one of the best cultures under Mark Dantonio and that was one of the many reasons why the program was so successful. But that culture was unfortunately erased during the Mel Tucker era.

Thankfully however it sounds like Smith is getting the program back towhere it should have always been and is fully representing who Michigan State and their fanbase truly are.
