5. Trey McKenney

Earlier I mentioned a different recruit on this list was one of Izzo’s top targets, but five-star guard Trey McKenney I would argue is Izzo’s single-most sought-after target.

Izzo has been seen recruiting McKenney in person countless times at this point, and for good reason as he is the No. 1 player from Michigan and the No. 15 overall player.

At this point, McKenney has only released a list of his top 10 programs which includes Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, Creighton, UCLA, Miami, Oregon, USC, and Georgetown. But to take it one step further, we can exclude Miami, Georgetown and UCLA as those three schools have not set up official visits yet.

I know it’s hard to predict where Michigan Stste stands in a recruitment when 10 schools are still involved, but this time I think it’s safe to say that MSU is near the top. Like I said, Izzo has been aggressively recruiting McKenney, more so than any other recruit, and usually when that happens the Spartans have a strong chance to win the recruitment.

We’ll have to wait awhile for all of McKenney’s visits to pass, but right now the focus is on his upcoming visit Oct. 4 and then we can see what happens from there.
