Recapping all 13 Michigan State basketball players’ performances at Moneyball
5. Kur Teng
Now it's time to talk about the MVP of Moneyball. That's right, incoming freshman Kur Teng was named the MVP of this summer's Moneyball after leading his team to the championship on Thursday night.
Teng played in all 11 games this summer and averaged 23.5 points per game. He also hit 2.5 3-pointers per game which you love to see from someone who is known as a sharp shooter. But even though he's known as a 3-point threat, he was able to show off other parts of his offensive game as well. This includes being a great finisher at the rim as well as having a solid mid range jump shot as well.
Winning MVP is great and all, but it is just Moneyball at the end of the day. However, I'm not even sure if a freshman has ever done that before, so that award, which may seem meaningless at times, is actually a pretty big deal.
Out of the three incoming freshman, I think Teng has the potential to play the most this season. Mainly because of his 3-point shooting which is something Michigan State was lacking at times last year. But this summer Teng proved that he's more than just an outside threat which is the best thing we could've hoped to see from him.
