Tom Izzo is fresh off his first transfer portal commitment of the offseason in Frankie Fidler, but he has no intentions of stopping the recruiting momentum there. Michigan State basketball hasn’t been connected with any other player in the portal since Fidler’s commitment, but Izzo is still out working hard recruiting the 2025 class.

Izzo was recently seen recruiting high priority target Niko Bundalo earlier this week. And now a new recruit ranked in the top 20 has said that Michigan State is recruiting him hard as well.

Recruiting update for four-star guard Jerry Easter

Jerry Easter is a four-star combo guard from La Porte, Ind. According to 247Sports, Easter is the No. 20 player in the country for the 2025 class as well as the No. 6 combo guard. Michigan State has been recruiting Easter extremely hard for a while, and On3 recruiting analyst Jamie Shaw confirmed that is still the case.

According to Easter, he is hearing a lot from Alabama, Michigan State, Ohio State, and Baylor, as well as a few other schools.

He plans on taking official visits to all four of these schools, but he is yet to get anything on his schedule just yet. The most likely time we’ll see him take this official visit to Michigan State is during next season when he can be on campus and come to another game in person at the Breslin Center.

So it appears that Michigan State is in a pretty good spot in Easter’s recruitment as of today. There have been no predictions made in his recruitment yet and there hasn’t been a commitment date set yet either, but Easter has been to campus a few times already and plans to make an official visit next season, so Izzo and the Spartans are definitely near the top of his list.

This would be a massive pickup for Michigan State, so I hope Izzo puts on the full-court press his next visit and gets him to become a Spartan.
