Michigan State basketball receives big news from top 25 recruit
Another day means more good news for Tom Izzo and Michigan State basketball on the recruiting trail. At this point it's easier to keep track of who MSU isn't targeting because every day it seems like the Spartans are mentioned with one of the top recruits in the country.
That happened once again on Monday as the Spartans found out that they made the top eight for one of the best players in the 2025 class.
Niko Bundalo is a four-star forward from Hudson, Ohio. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Bundalo is the No. 23 player in the country. He also is the No. 8 power forward as well as the top player from Ohio.
Bundalo announced his top eight schools on Monday afternoon, and Michigan State was fortunate enough to make the cut. This should not surprise any Spartan fans as Izzo and his staff have been prioritizing Bundalo for quite some time now.
Also included in Bundalo's top eight are Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, UConn, Xavier and Texas. As you can see, many of the country's heavy hitters are also pursuing Bundalo hard, but Michigan State may be in better shape then just being in his top eight.
Bundalo has only scheduled official visits with four of these schools so far, which may indirectly indicate who his current top four programs are. And Michigan State is one of those four schools as MSU is expecting to officially host Bundalo on Sept. 6.
UConn, Ohio State, and North Carolina are the three other schools who also have an official visit scheduled with Bundalo as well.
Spartan fans should keep a close eye on Bundalo for the rest of this recruiting cycle. Izzo has made it clear that he is one of his top priorities, and Bundalo is showing a lot of mutual interest as well.
Could Bundalo be Michigan State's first commit in the 2025 class? I wouldn't be surprised if he was.
