Massive recruiting update for 5-star Michigan State basketball target
There never is too much Michigan State basketball news during the month of September as college football is currently front and center in everyone's minds, but one thing we do see this time of the year is Tom Izzo bringing his priority recruiting targets to campus on visits.
That has been the case again this September with five-star guard Darius Adams being the most recent visitor. Adams is the No. 19 player in the country according to the 247Sports composite rankings, so when a player like that is on Michigan State's campus it is going to draw a lot of attention.
With the weekend visit just coming to an end we are yet to here how this visit went specifically, but one report in particular suggest that it went extremely well for Michigan State.
Joe Tipton with On3 has reported that as of Sunday night, Adams will no longer be taking his upcoming visit to Alabama.
What does this news mean?
The Tide were one of Adams' top schools in his recruitment, so this is extremely significant for any program still involved in his recruitment. But I think this news is the most significant for Michigan State.
Adams essentially made this decision the second his visit to East Lansing was complete. That tells me that Michigan State knocked his visit out of the park so much so that he is no longer interested in at least one other school if not more. Sure this is just me speculating, but why else would Adams cancel his visit?
Yes there is a chance that Adams is actually really high on another school and just now decided that his mind is made up, but that seems like too much of a coincidence. I think the most likely scenario is that his visit to Michigan State is what caused this cancellation.
The most exciting part about this is that this isn't the first time this has happened this year. In fact, five-star forward Jalen Haralson pulled the same move exactly one week ago after his visit to Michigan State.
The fact that there is a chance that Izzo could be inching closer to commitments from two five-star recruits is extremely exciting, but we are still going to have to wait to see how it plays out. But there is no denying that this news is at the very least a small sign of Michigan State progressing well in Adams' recruitment.
