Former Michigan State basketball star Malik Hall is getting his chance to make an NBA roster after not being drafted in this year’s draft or being picked up in free agency. He was added to the Charlotte Hornets’ Summer League roster giving him that chance to prove his worth on an NBA roster.

Unfortunately for Hall, night one on Saturday did not go well. But that didn’t stop him from playing well in the limited minutes he saw on Sunday night against China.

Hall may have only played four minutes on Sunday (all in the second half) but he made the most of those minutes in Charlotte’s 93-62 win. Hall scored four points on 2-for-3 shooting (0-for-1 from 3-point range) and also added an assist as well. He also had a very solid +6 plus/minus during his time on the court as well.

But Hall’s biggest moment by far was one of his two baskets. Hall drove the lane and the defenders got out of his way, because he destroyed the rim with this monstrous dunk.

Now the hope for Hall is that his play during his four minutes on Sunday night was enough to earn him more playing time. Because let’s be honest, four minutes per game isn’t going to be enough to convince any NBA team to sign him.

Maybe I’m a little biased (I definitely am) but I personally do think his four minutes of play was enough to earn at least a few more minutes in their next game. Hall was able to play some solid defense and showcase his athleticism with that dunk, which is a must have trait in today’s NBA. So hopefully the Hornets’ coaching staff feels the same way and we can see more of Hall in their next game.

Hall and the Hornets next game is Tuesday against the Sacramento Kings, so we’ll see then if he earned some more playing time or not. If not, he’ll still have five more games after that to prove himself during the NBA Summer League.
