The good news for former Michigan State basketball players continues to roll in.

Earlier on Sunday, news came out that Tyson Walker will be joining the Phoenix Suns for the NBA’s upcoming Summer League. That left one more Spartan who’s yet to figure out what their next step is in Malik Hall.

That however changed late Sunday night when news came out about his NBA future.

Jon Chepkevich with DraftExpress.com has reported that Hall will be joining the Charlotte Hornets this summer to play in the NBA Summer League. Chepkevich also added this about Hall, “Tough, smart 6’8” glue guy who defends, battles on the glass, and thrives in the mid-post.”

This is the exact news I was hoping to see, as neither Walker or Hall were drafted by an NBA team this summer. So even though they haven’t made an NBA roster yet, they are getting every chance to prove themselves and do so.

Hall will have his chance to show what he’s made of in a couple weeks from July 12-22 when the Summer League takes place. But better yet, he doesn’t have to only impress the Hornets to make it in the NBA. Every NBA team will have their representatives in attendance, so even if he doesn’t make it on the Hornets’ roster he could still make it with a different team.

Similarly to Walker, I think it’s going to be challenging for Hall to make it in the NBA. Hall is a bit undersized for his position and likely needs to add more strength as well. But that doesn’t mean it’s impossible for him to make it either.

All it takes is an elite showing for him during this week and a half stretch and he could quickly find himself squarely on a roster. I know that’s what I’ll be cheering for.
