Michigan State basketball will find out later on Wednesday if five-star forward Jalen Haralson will become the first member of their 2025 recruiting class or not.

While we still don’t know if he’s going to commit to MSU, Indiana, or Notre Dame, some interesting information came out on X late Tuesday night that directly impacts Haralson’s recruitment.

Later in this thread Ryan Phillips of Sports Illustrated shared that the number he is hearing is “north” of $1 million.

So now we know that Haralson has a massive NIL package on the table and we also know that Michigan State is up against Indiana and Notre Dame in this recruitment, but the question that needs to be asked is if this is an NIL package that Michigan State would be able to offer.

I wish I had the answer to that question but unfortunately I don’t know what amount of NIL Tom Izzo has at his disposal. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if Michigan State does have the resources available to make this large of an offer.

I’ve never seen the exact amounts of NIL that the basketball program has available and the people in the know haven’t shared either. But those people in the know have hinted at Michigan State basketball being a major player in the NIL space. That could explain why the Spartans have been able to sign elite classes like they did in 2023 and never lose a player to the transfer portal that they want to keep on their roster.

But at the end of the day we’ll have to see if Haralson picks Michigan State or not. I’d like to think MSU could make this type of offer, but even if they can’t I know they will still have a solid offer on the table and can make up the difference with having a legendary coach like Izzo and an elite program and family atmosphere that Haralson would immediately become a part of.
