Moneyball was back in action again for the sixth night this summer and once again some Michigan State basketball players have stood out.

So far this summer, the players you would expect to stand out did. However, Thursday night we saw some new Spartans step up and have their best games of the summer.

So let’s dive right in with my three takeaways from the sixth night of Moneyball.

1. Jeremy Fears is back

The return of Jeremy Fears Jr. has been one of the best things that’s come from Moneyball this summer. Fears isn’t on a roster, but he has been a substitute for others when they aren’t able to play on any given night.

Thursday night was the third time that Fears has stepped in for someone, which on its own is a big deal. This tells us that his recovery from his gunshot wound last December is coming along very well, and he may even be 100 percent already.

Fears played well in his first two Moneyball games, but Thursday night he was outstanding. He poured in 40 points including seven made 3-pointers. Fears also was a perfect 3-for-3 from the charity stripe which is a nice touch as well.

So while Fears’ performances at Moneyball really don’t matter all that much since he’s still in recovery mode, a 40-point night on Thursday tells us one thing.

He’s back.
