What a month of November it’s been for Michigan State and head coach Tom Izzo. The Spartans have picked up two top-15 wins, but they’ve also landed a couple of huge commitments.

Four-star shooting guard Jasiah Jervis committed to the Spartans a couple of weeks ago, and that was followed by the pledge of five-star center Ethan Taylor.

The common denominator of both commitments? The family atmosphere in East Lansing.

Taylor and Jervis both noted that Michigan State’s culture was a big reason why they committed, and I can safely say that the latter has already felt that love. While Taylor admitted that the fanbase was elite and treated him so well, Jervis got a taste of the family atmosphere that he’s going to feel while in East Lansing for the next few years.

Jervis attended Tuesday night’s Michigan State vs. Kentucky game at Madison Square Garden with his family, and he was invited to the locker room to celebrate the team afterwards.

If you didn’t look closely enough, you would’ve missed Jervis smiling in the background as Cam Ward hoists the victory belt. He was spotted in another photo, too, but this just encapsulates what it means to be a Spartan and to join the family in East Lansing. He hasn’t even played a minute for Michigan State yet, and he already knows he’s going to be welcomed with open arms.

This is what makes Michigan State so special, and Izzo has said it a million times: culture means everything to him. There’s really no place like Michigan State when it comes to hoops culture.
