Pat Fitzgerald has wrapped up his second weekend of official visits and Michigan State has picked up another handful of commitments.

The first weekend yielded two commitments and the second has three officially but it sounds like there are two more coming down the pipe.

The first commitment of weekend No. 2 was unranked cornerback Cordaro Parham from Jefferson., Ga. He also held an offer from Kansas State but didn’t have any other visits planned. Just hours into his official visit, Parham took the mic in front of coaches, family members, and fellow recruits and committed to Michigan State.

It was a great way to start the weekend and Lawrence Kanneh and Brendan Fitzgerald have followed his lead. Fitzgerald also teased two more commitments on Twitter with his famous “Pat Signal”.

Parham’s was special because we got a behind-the-scenes look at the moment a recruit tells his future head coach that he’s committing. We don’t get to see that often.

Now the unranked Georgia cornerback is unranked no more.

Cordaro Parham gets his first ranking

The new Michigan State cornerback commit has received his first ranking as of Sunday afternoon and while he’s not a high three-star, his final ranking when he’s officially signed could prove that Fitzgerald found another diamond in the rough.

Parham is now the No. 1,029 recruit in the 2027 class and he’s also the No. 96 cornerback. Michigan State just landed one of the top 100 cornerbacks in the country when he was seemingly on no one else’s radar. I have a feeling that this is going to end up being one of his best commits.

Could this be his first steal as Michigan State’s head coach? We’ll revisit this in a few years.

Michigan State’s 2027 class is filling up

Before last weekend kicked off official visit season, Michigan State was at just seven commits. Fast forward about nine days and Michigan State’s 2027 class is expected to grow to 13.

The Spartans are technically at 11 commits but the two teased by Fitzgerald will get it up to 13. Most of the class could be considered potential diamonds in the rough, but that’s kind of what I expected when there was a coaching change and Michigan State hired someone who hadn’t recruited in three years. He hit the ground running, but he’s still trying to follow the Mark Dantonio blueprint.

With 13 commitments, he’s going to have to be pretty selective with the remaining spots, assuming it’s around 20-25.
