There aren’t many recruits in the 2028 class who are receiving more FBS interest than Detroit native Mylan Griggs who plays receiver at powerhouse Cass Tech.
Griggs holds a reported three dozen offers and he’s only really getting started on the recruiting trail. He’s received a total of 35 scholarship offers and he’s likely to soar in an updated ranking whenever that decides to come out. For right now, though, he’s OK with being a four-star and the No. 299 overall recruit in the 2027 class. He’s also Michigan’s No. 7 prospect.
With the attention that he’s getting mixed with the fact that he could take pretty much his pick of the litter at this point, landing Griggs won’t be an easy task for new Michigan State head coach Pat Fitzgerald.
Getting a head start on in-state recruiting in the 2028 class is a good idea and Fitzgerald has gotten in at the right time with the four-star Cass Tech receiver because Michigan State has reportedly made a strong impression on the talented wideout.
According to Tom Loy of 247Sports, Michigan State has impressed Griggs enough to draw his interest in the 2028 class as a four-star recruit. The article is behind a paywall so I can only tell you what the headline says, but it’s looking like Michigan State is a serious threat to land the four-star from Cass Tech.
Fitzgerald will have his work cut out for him.
Mylan Griggs has been on fire since the spring
It’s going to be difficult for the Spartans to land Griggs over the plethora of Power Four teams that have offered since the start of spring ball.
Which teams have offered, you might ask? Missouri, Texas A&M, Purdue, Illinois, UCLA, Kansas, and Pitt have all extended scholarship offers since the middle of March. So when I say that Griggs is on fire on the recruiting trail, I just mean that he’s apparently impressing the right people.
If Michigan State plans on landing him, the Spartans will need to capitalize on this interest and get him to campus in the near. If that does happen, I like Fitzgerald’s chances.
Michigan State is still going to have to beat out the likes of Arizona State, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Texas A&M, UCLA, USC, and Wisconsin for the talented four-star receiver, but thankfully the Spartans have Courtney Hawkins on their side.
Could Griggs become Michigan State’s first four-star in-state commit of the Fitzgerald era.
