Thursday was another big day for Michigan State football.
Jonathan Smith and Co. have been on fire on the recruiting trail lately, and the Spartans have gone from two commitments before official visits commenced to 22 pledges as of July 4.
Michigan State's 2026 class went from the 70s nationally to No. 26 in a month, and it doesn't look like the Spartans are slowing down any time soon. On Thursday, the Spartans picked up another commitment from a talented edge rusher over the likes of Florida State, Arizona State, and UCLA.
Chris Addison committed to the Spartans after visiting on June 13 before a trip to Florida State and after he saw both Arizona State and UCLA earlier on.

The three-star edge rusher from Winnsboro, La., may not be the highest-rated or most coveted prospect in Michigan State's 2026 class but his offer sheet was rather impressive. He was offered by Florida State, UCLA, Arkansas, Arizona State, Baylor, Mississippi State, North Carolina, TCU, Texas Tech, and Vanderbilt.
Michigan State now has three edge rushers in the 2026 class as Addison joins Cory House and Fameitau Siale. Addison now becomes the third-highest-rated commit in the Spartans' class.
Addison is ranked the No. 548 overall recruit and No. 52 edge rusher in the class, per the 247Sports Composite. He's also the No. 16 recruit in the talent-rich state of Louisiana.
Smith is recruiting at a high level right now and he's getting fans to buy back in right before a crucial 2025 season. If he can secure a winning season, we should see the 2027 class take an even larger step forward. This is how exciting recruiting should be at Michigan State.
