With his transfer class sewn up, as far as we know, and the 2026 recruiting class signed, Pat Fitzgerald has turned his attention toward the 2027 cycle. The new Michigan State football coach is received his first two 2027 commitments earlier this winter, and all signs are pointing to him landing one of his top priorities in the near future.
Michigan State already has three-star running back Savior Owens from Ohio and three-star offensive lineman Grant Adloff from Grand Rapids committed in 2027, but a bigger fish could soon be a Spartan.
Fitzgerald had a nice recruiting win on National Signing Day that has only helped his chances with a big-time prospect in 2027. He beat out Penn State and Alabama for four-star receiver Samson Gash from Detroit Catholic Centeral. Samson is the younger brother of Michigan State defensive back Caleb Gash, proving that the family connection can help.
Now there’s another Gash coming down the pipeline and Fitzgerald has to like his chances.
Four-star cornerback Gideon Gash, the youngest of the three brothers, received a couple of crystal ball predictions on Tuesday to end up at Michigan State.
Michigan State 247Sports recruiting experts Corey Robinson and Justin Thind both submitted predictions with a “6” confidence level for Gideon to commit to the Spartans.
This would be a huge get for Fitzgerald, especially when you consider how sought-after he is.
Gideon Gash has been blowing up lately
Since the start of the year, Gash has been one of the hottest names in the 2027 class. He’s received offers from Penn State, Louisville, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Missouri, Iowa, Alabama, Boston College, LSU, and Northwestern, among a few others, over the past month.
Fitzgerald has his work cut out if he’s going to land Gideon, but all signs are pointing to that happening.
There was talk of Samson and Gideon being a package deal, and the fact that Caleb didn’t transfer from Michigan State was a good sign. So when Samson signed with Michigan State over Penn State and Alabama, it immediately put the Spartans in the driver’s seat for Gideon.
The youngest Gash brother is ranked the No. 304 overall prospect and No. 34 cornerback in the 2027 class. He’s also the state of Michigan’s No. 7 recruit. He’d look good in the green and white.
