A big weekend for Michigan State football just got even bigger.

According to a report from On3's Blair Sanderson, four-star defensive back Elijah Dotson from Belleville, Mich., will be on campus this weekend for a visit.

This is big news not only because Dotson is a four-star prospect and just rose to the No. 2 player in the state of Michigan this week on 247Sports, but also because he's currently committed to Pitt. That's right, former Michigan State defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi secured his commitment back in May and the Spartans were in the running then.

Iowa is also a contender for Dotson, according to 247Sports, so that could mean a win over the Hawkeyes is that much more important for the future of Michigan State football.

With Dotson taking this visit, it seems like he might be looking to open up his options. He has been committed for about five months now, but the new interest he's getting from some Power Four schools has to be intriguing during his senior year of high school ball.

Dotson is ranked the No. 118 overall recruit and No. 10 safety in the country, per 247Sports. He's the No. 2 player in the state of Michigan behind teammate Bryce Underwood who is currently committed to LSU as a five-star quarterback and just ahead of four-star Michigan State commit Derrick Simmons from Frankenmuth.

Jonathan Smith has some work to do here if he wants to flip Dotson, but this is a great development for the Spartans.
