I won't lie to you, I love to push agendas online for Michigan State football. I will say whatever it takes to try and make the public's perception about MSU as positive as possible without lying. That, however, was a difficult task to do after an ugly 38-7 loss to Ohio State. But I, along with many other MSU fans, were able to find something positive to say after this game.

The final score did not tell the full story.

Losing by 31 is not good and there's no way to make up a scenario where Michigan State actually wins that game, but there is a scenario (and a very reasonable one for that matter) that shows MSU was absolutely in the game in the first half.

There were two plays that did not go MSU's way that 99 percent of the time do, and if they did go MSU's way the halftime score would have been 17-14 in Ohio State's favor instead of 24-7. Those plays were the dropped interception in the endzone and the no facemask call on Aidan Chiles when he fumbled the ball.

That interception is made almost 99 percent of the time as is that penalty being called on Chiles' fumble, so if those two plays go MSU's way we have ourselves a ball game heading into the second half.

I say all of this to show you that Michigan State was in this game and were not overwhelmed by Ohio State's talent. This conclusion is something that Jonathan Smith shares as well.

Yes, myself, Spartan Nation, and even Smith are biased, but after reading my explanation I don't know who you can deny that Michigan State wasn't nearly as overwhelmed as the final score suggests.

Like I said, there is no scenario where Michigan State actually wins this game, but don't let the final score trick you, the Spartans were able to hold their own for most of this game. And it's that very fact that allows me to still carry a lot of confidence in this team going forward the rest of the season.
