The first Pat Fitzgerald-led signing day at Michigan State is here already, and the new head coach is working the phones to see who he can add to his first recruiting class.

OK, so this isn’t technically his recruiting class, because that wouldn’t be fair to him nor Jonathan Smith who put 99 percent of it together, but he’s still going to get credit for whoever he lands from this point forward. Also, you can’t overlook the fact that even though Smith recruited most of these guys, Fitzgerald was able to convince them to stick with him.

Michigan State’s class was ranked somewhere in the mid-30s nationally when Fitzgerald took over, and he may have lost a couple of recruits (Jordan Vann, Christopher Knauls Jr.) and a couple of others said that they’re going to wait to sign (Samson Gash, Zachary Washington), but he did flip his first recruit on Wednesday morning in three-star interior lineman Jack Ziarko.

It’s been a strong start to signing day for Fitzgerald, and he’s also had a number of 2026 prospects say that they’re sticking with their Michigan State commitments after talking to the head coach.

The last three days have probably felt like a whirlwind for Fitzgerald who accepted the job on Sunday just an hour after Smith was fired. He then signed the new deal after meeting with J Batt, and then he was off and running on Monday. The former Northwestern coach was introduced at a press conference in East Lansing on Tuesday, and he spent the last 48 hours calling recruits and meeting with the team.

Signing day is going to tell us just what kind of pull the 51-year-old head coach still has.

We’re going to track the official signees as they come in (including any new commits). Here’s who has signed with Michigan State so far:

Rai’shawn Elmore, 3-star WR (Indian Trail, NC)

Zach Washington, 3-star WR (Wheaton, Ill.)

KJ Derisory, 3-star CB (Fayetteville, Ga.)

Jonathan Granby, 3-star DB (Roswell, Ga.)

Cory House Jr., 3-star EDGE (Memphis, Tenn.)

TJ Umenyiora, 3-star CB (Roswell, Ga.)

Eli Bickel, 3-star OT (North Branch, Mich.)

Eliyjah Caldwell-Hardy, 3-star S (Jacksonville, Fla.)

Brayden Thomas, 3-star safety (Lakewood, Ohio)

Joey Caudill, 3-star TE (Mansfield, Ohio)

Jack Ziarko, 3-star IOL (Canton, Ohio)

Adam Shaw, 3-star LB (Hillsdale, NJ)

Hudson Aultman, 3-star DL (Delaware, Ohio)

Eddie Whiting, 3-star TE (Sioux Falls, SD)

We’ll keep adding the new signees when they come in. Fitzgerald is doing a heck of a job keeping the class together in a short span of time. We’ll see if there are any more surprises on signing day.
