Tom Izzo extended an interesting offer in the 2026 class on Monday.
The legendary Michigan State basketball coach identified an in-state point guard target and extended an offer to him on Monday despite him holding just eight offers from the likes of Central Michigan, Detroit Mercy, Toledo, Duquesne, and Murray State.
Izzo threw his name in the hat for Carlos Medlock Jr.
After a great conversation with Coach Izzo I'm blessed to receive an offer from Michigan state university pic.twitter.com/53p3xqaJO1

Medlock played this past season at Wayne Memorial in Wayne, Mich., and just last month, he announced that he would be playing his senior year in Missouri at Link Academy. A move like that would usually hurt the Spartans, but seeing as Michigan State is his best offer by a wide margin, it feels like this is a great move for him to develop his game even further.
It's also interesting to see him target a guy with this type of offer sheet and it's likely that he sees him developing into a special player. He's been in on guys early prior to blowing up before and the most recent would have to be Xavier Booker who went from a top-100 four-star big to a five-star in the top 10 in most recruiting databases.
We'll likely see more schools taking a serious look at Medlock because of this offer from Izzo and Michigan State.
Medlock is a 5-foot-11, 165-pound guard from Wayne, Mich., who happens to be ranked the No. 26 point guard in the class and he's now the No. 7 prospect from Missouri. Michigan State has to like where it currently stands with him early in the process and before many other major offers roll in.
