Michigan State basketball lands another top-50 recruit to its 2025 class
Tom Izzo is staying hot on the recruiting trail after a couple of rough weeks which saw him miss out on the likes of Jalen Haralson, Darius Adams, Trey McKenney, and Trent Sisley. The legendary Michigan State basketball coach swung and missed on a handful of elite recruits and many fans were ready to jump off the bandwagon.
There were some fans close to hitting that panic button but Izzo has responded in a big way, going into the backyard of the Maryland Terrapins and picking up two commitments.
First, Izzo landed four-star small forward Jordan Scott on Oct. 10. He's the No. 52 overall prospect in the 2025 class and the No. 11 small forward, reigning from Reston, Va.
On Tuesday, Izzo landed his second commitment in the form of four-star top-50 power forward Cam Ward from Upper Marlboro, Md. The 6-foot-7, 210-pound power forward from Maryland was a top target of the Terrapins and he now becomes the second local kid to spurn the local program and pick Izzo and Michigan State.
Michigan State's 2025 class was looking grim a few weeks ago with all of the misses, but it's good to see that Izzo didn't listen to the outside hate and just locked in two OKGs.
Ward is one of the best power forwards in the class, ranked No. 14 at the position and No. 50 overall, just ahead of Scott in the 2025 cycle.
All of the Izzo doubters, including myself at one time, have been silenced. Let's hope he can get the job done this season and lead Michigan State back to the top like he vowed to do after his second-round loss to North Carolina last year.
Winning cures all.
