Tom Izzo is one of the hardest working dudes in sports and arguably the biggest grinder in college basketball so it's fitting that he has an annual event called "Grind Week" in East Lansing. The Michigan State basketball legend invites former players to come back and work out with current players and even a couple of recruiting targets.
The date for Grind Week was announced earlier on Thursday and shortly after, some official visits were made public for that massive recruiting weekend.
The first announced official visit was four-star point guard Carlos Medlock Jr. who was just offered in June and has seen his stock skyrocket since. He is going to be one of the top targets for Izzo in the 2026 class and this Grind Week could be the visit that convinces him to commit.
Next was Quinn Costello, a four-star power forward from Boston who has also seen his stock rise considerably over the past couple of months. He, too, will be on campus for Grind Week, per Justin Thind.
NEWS: #MichiganState will host 2026 four-star PF Quinn Costello for an official visit starting on September 5th, sources tell me.

The 6-foot-11 Boston (MA) stretch-four has seen his profile skyrocket this summer.

The last time Michigan State had a big with the last name 'Costello' on the team, the Spartans experienced some of their best seasons under Izzo. He helped lead Michigan State to a Final Four as a junior in 2015 and then a No. 2 seed in 2016 on a team that many believed should have been a No. 1 seed and a legit national title favorite before losing to MTSU.
So yeah, adding another Costello wouldn't be a bad idea as long as Middle Tennessee is never on the schedule.
Costello is ranked the No. 72 overall recruit and 12th-best power forward in the 2026 class, per 247Sports. He's also the No. 1 prospect from Massachusetts.
Landing Costello and Medlock to kickstart the 2026 class would be massive.
