Another day, another under-the-radar recruit scheduling an official visit with Michigan State.
Shortly after news broke that the Spartans would be hosting a 6-foot-7, 340-pound behemoth from Canada on Thursday, another official visitor was locked in by Pat Fitzgerald.
According to his own Twitter account and 247Sports, fast-rising unranked offensive tackle RJ Clem from Logansport, Ind., will be visiting Michigan State on June 12. That weekend is becoming one of the most intriguing in terms of official visits and there’s a decent chance that Michigan State will be on commit watch for the entirety of those 72 hours.
Clem is unranked now, but the Indiana-native holds offers from Wake Forest, Iowa State, Kansas State, and UCF and all of those have come within the past three weeks. Michigan State offered on May 18 which was almost two full weeks after Wake Forest offered. Why is that important? Because Wake Forest is the only other school that’s getting an official visit from Clem.
Nick Tabacca is his lead recruiter and likes what he sees in the 6-foot-6, 265-pound tackle from Indiana. Michigan State has to be in the driver’s seat here, you would think.
It would be pretty disappointing to miss out on an unranked offensive tackle to an Iowa State, Kansas State, or Wake Forest which are all in rebuild mode and don’t have the same history as Michigan State. I would venture a guess that Michigan State will be on commit watch with Clem that weekend.
June 12 is shaping up to be huge for Michigan State
With Clem now added to the list of visitors, the weekend of June 12 is going to be massive for the Spartans. Although there are just four visitors scheduled for June 12, the Spartans could very well be on commit watch with each one of them. There’s a non-zero chance that every June 12 visitor eventually commits to Michigan State.
Four-star receiver Ronnie Gomiller from Illinois leads the group along with Maliek Brown, a three-star wide receiver from Texas. Clem is also not the only unranked visitor that weekend. Noah Willis, an unranked cornerback from Georgia, will also be on campus.
I have a feeling that the weekend of June 12 is going to be huge for the 2027 class and I’ll even make a bowl prediction that Michigan State will land a four-star.
