Michigan State football: 3 takeaways from embarrassing loss to Michigan
1. This is rock bottom
I’ve said it a couple of times already, but this is the lowest of the low. This is as bad as it’s going to get. Losing at home 49-0 to your rival is about as bad as it gets.
The Spartans were down 14-0 before anyone could even blink and then 28-0 at the half. They couldn’t muster any offense and the defense wasn’t getting a single stop. Even the second and third-string Wolverines were scoring points as Jack Tuttle had 63 passing yards and Alex Orji ran in a touchdown.
Michigan State needs to do some soul-searching after this one because it’ll be hard to get players to buy in after losing a game like this and essentially losing any hope for a bowl berth.
Harlon Barnett says he’s going to start holding players accountable, but it seems like too little too late for this season. This is as bad as it gets and we’re watching a program hit rock bottom before (hopefully) turning things around under a new head coach next season.
