Michigan State football: 3 takeaways from embarrassing loss to Michigan

2. This is a poorly coached team

You would have thought after Mel Tucker was fired that the coaching staff would come together and try to basically treat this like a job interview. You would have thought they’d be coaching for their jobs but they have looked horrible since.

Harlon Barnett has looked like he’s in over his head, Chris Kapilovic has seen his offensive line continue to get worse, Scottie Hazelton’s defense was atrocious, Jay Johnson has been horrible with his play-calling, and Ross Els has one of the worst special teams in America, outside of field goal kicking.

This team also has awful discipline.

Barnett told reporters after the game that he’s not going to coddle this team anymore and kind of being more of a hard-nosed head coach which is something that should’ve happened from the beginning.

It’s been a while since this team was coached so poorly, but here we are.
