Michigan State football working hard to flip 3-star Syracuse DB
Mel Tucker is working relentlessly to land the best recruiting class possible for Michigan State football in 2024. After signing a top-25 class in 2023, Tucker is hungry to have an even better finish to the 2024 cycle and with official visit season approaching, recruiting will ramp up soon.
The Spartans recently made the top six for a couple of four-star prospects from the West Coast and four-star linebacker Dylan Williams announced that he will be taking an official in June.
On top of that, the Spartans could be on commit watch this week with four-star tight end Dylan Mesman announcing his decision on April 29.
The news has been rolling in lately, and it didn’t stop on Monday as three-star Syracuse defensive back commit Syair Torrence was offered by the Spartans and he quickly scheduled an official visit for June 9.
This would be a nice flip for the staff if they’re able to pull it off.
Michigan State football looks to be in good shape
Although Torrence doesn’t exactly have an extensive offer sheet, he looks like a quality athlete who could outperform his current recruiting ranking. He’s listed as the No. 612 overall recruit in the class, per the 247Sports Composite, and the third-best from the state of New York.
Torrence holds offers from just Syracuse, MSU, and Buffalo, but that’s likely to change. It seems as if Michigan State got in at the right time here.
The fact that the Spartans offered Torrence on Monday and he scheduled an official visit hours later just goes to show the interest level. Hopefully the staff can secure a flip before his recruitment really blows up.
