Michigan State basketball: 4-star SF Coen Carr “trending” toward Spartans
The 2023 Michigan State basketball class is already loaded, but it could soon add another four-star in small forward Coen Carr.
Shortly after Gehring Normand committed to Michigan State basketball, he jumped on an Instagram live with fellow pledges Jeremy Fears and Xavier Booker.
The three talked about how excited they were about the future and how they planned on winning a national title in East Lansing, but then they brought a special guest on to talk. Coen Carr popped up in the fourth window and the other three immediately went to work. They were in his ear about joining them so they could do something special together.
Carr was quiet and just laughed it off. He didn’t say much.
A few days later, he announced a commitment day of Aug. 9. Are these two situations related? Probably not completely, but the trio of Spartan pledges being in his ear may have had an impact in some way or another.
The four-star from South Carolina will be choosing from the likes of Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Indiana along with Michigan State and if the early predictions are to be trusted, it’s looking like the Spartans are the team trending for him just days before his official decision.
According to On3, Michigan State leads with 90 percent of the predictions and Tennessee second with just over three percent. He also received a FutureCast on Rivals to Michigan State on Saturday morning. Although 247Sports doesn’t have any crystal balls for him yet, it feels like Michigan State is the current program with all the momentum.
Michigan State’s class could soon grow to four and become something really special.
