The first three 2023 Michigan State basketball pledges have taken that first step toward convincing Coen Carr to join the class.

Jeremy Fears has been committed to Michigan State basketball for seven months and during that time, he’s put in a ton of work on the recruiting trail.

The four-star point guard who just joined Overtime Elite for his final year of high school ball has made it known that his priorities have been Xavier Booker and Devin Royal. Well, the Spartans landed Booker while Royal is likely to commit to Ohio State on Wednesday.

But then Tom Izzo added Gehrig Normand and Coen Carr to the target list to make up for the potential loss of Royal and Fears immediately got to work.

Normand committed on Tuesday night and that means there’s one more target to close the deal with and that’s Carr.

Fears said on Tuesday after the Normand commitment that he’s “not done yet” after someone posted about him being one of the best recruiters MSU has seen.

As if that wasn’t enough, the four-star point guard joined forces with his two other 2023 commits to recruit Carr on Tuesday night.

Normand, Fears, and Booker were on Instagram live shortly after the commitment and they were talking about how excited they were while donning MSU hats and they decided to add Carr into the live. Although Carr was relatively quiet and didn’t reveal too much, he did say that he’d be dropping a top five soon and he probably wouldn’t have joined the live if he didn’t vibe with the other Michigan State commits.

This class feels eerily similar to the elite group from 2016 that probably should have won more together, but the talent was endless.

A group of Normand, Booker, Fears, and Carr would be unreal and it’s actually very possible.
